Bellevue, Liberty offensive lines boast odd training regimens

When the second-ranked Wolverines (5-2) travel to play the No. 3 Patriots (7-0) at 7 p.m. Friday, the unique training regimens of each line will be tested. For Bellevue, the challenge is to blow open holes that make the misdirection of the wing-T offense work. On the other side of the field, the Patriots' plan is to protect the trio of junior skill players who produce points in their high-powered offense. Full story...

 
Bellevue runs past Juanita

BELLEVUE — Bellevue High School's football team isn't leaving its pedestal just yet.

In fact, Bellevue is not budging.

The second-ranked Wolverines scored three times on their first five plays from scrimmage en route to a 50-7 win over ninth-ranked Juanita in a KingCo 3A/2A matchup Friday night.

Seven-time state champion Bellevue (5-2 overall, 4-0 league), the defending Class 3A champ, enjoyed a celebratory homecoming triumph and its fourth win in a row.

Bellevue LB John Kanongata'a is expected to return this week against Sammamish. The senior has been sidelined with a high-ankle sprain. "He's a big part of our defense, so that will be good," coach Butch Goncharoff said.
 
No. 2 Bellevue gets past Mount Si, 28-14

SNOQUALMIE — After two straight losses against nationally ranked competition, Bellevue took a step back to figure out what was wrong.

Sure, the injuries were mounting, but something else didn't feel right. So on Friday night, the Wolverines decided to try and make the game fun again.

They weren't perfect, but their 28-14 victory over Mount Si was a step in the right direction.

Katy 35 - Bellevue 17

The Wolverines started off the game with a dizzying ten-minute drive down to the Katy two-yard line, which had the Texas fans wondering what type of  team had just set foot in Rhodes Stadium. However, any confusion they had was quickly answered as a gritty group of Wolverines failed to get in the end zone on fourth down and two. (Bellevue vs Katy Photos by Jim Redman, MaxPreps)

"The scoreboard doesn't represent how close this game actually was or the fight & determination displayed by both Bellevue and Katy," said Dave Stephenson, Titus Sports Marketing. The Wolverines went into the locker room down 14-10 at halftime and struggled to build any significant momentum. While the Wolverines were struggling to sustain a drive, the Tigers were in overdrive and dominated both the offensive and defensive line of scrimmage contributing to 28 points gained and 17 allowed, respectively..

2009 Nike CBA Football Classic

Bellevue, Wash. (August 25, 2009) - Bellevue High School announced today the schedule for its 2009 Nike CBA Football Classic, formerly known as the Best of the West. The 2009 Nike CBA Football Classic, to be held on September 18, 2009 in Marysville, WA and on September 19, 2009 at the Seattle Memorial Stadium, will bring together seven Washington teams and three California teams, including three Washington versus California match-ups. Paralleling the popularity of the weekend's Washington state versus California state college match-ups, this five-game event is expected to draw upwards of 10,000 football fans to help kick off the 2009 football season.
