BHS 45, Mercer Island HS 10

Wolverines rained down on the Islanders Friday night scoring on all three fronts (offense, defense and special teams), and walked away 5-0 for the season with their 45-10 win over the Islanders. Taylor Anderson caught a 28 yard pass from Tommy Castle early in the first quarter. Then the defense added 6 when David Altomare returned a fumble into the Islander end zone. Again, the defense dominated when Jamal Atofau recovered a fumble and ran it in to score with 7:28 left in the first quarter. Houston Hubert kicked a nice 40 Yard field goal and made 5 of 5 PATs to add 8 points for the Wolverines. The offense kept rolling with an explosive Sean Coley for two TD runs of 32 yards and 42 yards. The team kept up the fire in the rain during the Friday Night festivities at MI HS Stadium. Thanks to the heads up play by our Wolverines, Mercer Island Booster Club BBQ Hamburgers, Blues Brothers Marching Band Half-Time entertainment and, reliable umbrellas, it was an enjoyable evening hosted by our Islander neighbors.

Game Video Highlights

September 11: PORTLAND — Bellevue's wing-T offense had just made another one of the Northwest's top teams look lost, searching for the ball when it was already behind them. The Wolverines ran and ran some more on Portland's Central Catholic — even passed a bit — but even when it added up to a 41-13 season-opening win for Bellevue at the Les Schwab Best of West event at PGE Park, coach Butch Goncharoff sounded just as concerned as he did last week.
